Xiaomi has revealed 100W fast charging technology and says that it can charge phones from 0 to 100 per cent in just 17 minutes. With the new 100W fast charging technology Xiaomi beats Oppo’s SuperVOOC – which so far was the fastest wired charging tech with 50W speeds at 10V/5A after Huawei’s 65W fast charger. With this, Xiaomi becomes the first ever phone company to bring a 100W fast charging technology.
Xiaomi has released a video showing its own 100W fast charging technology and how fast it can charge phones. In the same video, Xiaomi compares the 100W fast charging technology with Oppo’s 50W fast charging tech. While the Xiaomi charger charges the phone from 0 to 100 per cent in just 17 minutes, the Oppo charger manages to charge around 65 per cent at the same time. In the video Xiaomi’s fast charger powers a 4,000 mAh battery while Oppo’s SuperVOOC works with a 3,700mAh battery.
Soon after the video was released Redmi President Lu Weibing revealed that Redmi will be the first one to mass produce 100W Xiaomi fast charger. This means the next Redmi phone from the company may come packed with Xiaomi’s 100W fast charging technology. This bit of information was revealed via a Weibo post. In the same post, Weibing revealed that the engineers have successfully tested the 100W fast charger. Xiaomi also claims that its fast charging technology is almost twice as fast as Oppo’s SuperVOOC technology.
So far almost all Xiaomi phones come packed with up to 27W wired chargers. The recently launched Xiaomi Mi 9 – the company’s latest flagship phone – comes with an 18W charger. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro India models and Redmi 7 china variant come bundled with a 10W charger.
Xiaomi is expected to reveal more details about the world’s first 100W charger at an event scheduled to happen today, where the company is said to launch its lightest Mi Notebook Air so far. Latest teaser suggests that the new Mi Notebook Air will be much lighter than the Apple MacBook Air.
